The
Braves met the Barons for the second time on April 11, in the
second league game of the year. The Barons
shut the Braves out to win the game 14-0 in three innings.
1ST
INNING
The Braves put two runners on base but failed to score in the
top of the first inning. After a groundout to the
pitcher, Kalyb singled and advanced to second. Hayden
then singled after a strikeout, but another strikeout left
Hayden at first and Kalyb at third.
The
Barons brought seven runs home in their half of the inning
with five Barons reaching base and scoring runs before their
#6 batter grounded out to Paul at first base. Two more
batters reached base and scored. The final batter
grounded out to the pitcher, but drove in the seventh run of
the inning (the maximum) in the process.
2ND
INNING
The Braves again failed to score in the second inning, despite
putting two more runners on base. Jacob and Caleb each
reached base with back-to-back base hits. Following a
strikeout, Jacob was out at third base attempting to
steal. Another strikeout ended the inning with Caleb at
first base.
In
their share of the second inning the Barons again scored the 7
run maximum while recording only one out. The leadoff
batter reached base and scored, followed by a strikeout.
The next seven batters then reached base safely with all but
one scoring runs. The last batter drove in the seventh
run as the Barons maxed out again.
3RD
INNING
The Braves went three-up-three-down with a
double play erasing the only runner of the inning.
Following a strikeout, Jamison reached base safely but was
eliminated as Kalyb lined out to the shortstop, who threw then
to first to double-up Jamison before he could get back to the
bag.
The
game was called after three innings, due to the "run
rule" in effect - 14 runs after four innings of play.
